Landowners are king
Exciting opportunities
Landowners are the local community. Nothing happens without their approval. We focus on their interest and needs no matter whether it is a school, farm, airfield or village pub. Our friends of friends look for opportunities that excite landowners and specialists. We help as friends, mostly at no cost, without tonnes of paperwork but with authorities’ agreement where necessary. We complete risk assessments for each event and have insurance for our volunteers.
Our approach

- 1. Visit and discuss requirements
- 2. Draw up an initial plan and identify alternative source for tree whips canes and tree guards
- 3. Optimise plan and bring in specialists where needed
- 4. Plan planting event for November to February with risk analysis. Large events are advertised through Facebook, Eventbrite and by email to our mailchimp members
- 5. Where possible we are keen to involve the school students or residents from the local village
- 6. We then set up the event, train and supervise the volunteers and clear up after.
- 7. Our team audits and can provide maintenance and free replacement of whips that do not survive.
- 8. Where there are opportunities for natural flood management with large areas of wet woodlands ponds and river rewiggling. We introduce East Mercia Rivers Trust and the Environment Agency specialists. These can be large area projects that require a phased approach with initial benefit review, conceptual design of options for landowner approval, detailed design to calculate project costs, landowner approval, funding application and implementation.
